About the Grindhouse Film Festival

The monthly Grindhouse Film Festival events feature the screening of rare 35mm prints of cult and exploitation films from the 1960’s through the 1980’s, many of which have not been publicly shown since the drive-in’s and inner city grindhouse theaters faded away twenty years ago. For the low price of only $8.00, attendees get two rare films, a reel of rare exploitation trailers, a free raffle, and very often appearances by the directors, cast and crew of the films being shown.

We'll be partnering with some horror and cult film DVD companies in upcoming months to bring some great new prizes to our attendees, so it's possible you'll actually win something worth keeping!

For the most current information about the Grindhouse Film Festival please check out our MySpace page, and if you're a member send a friend request as an additional way to keep updated and provide feedback.

If you would like to be added to our email list and receive a once-a-month update about our upcoming screenings, send an email to the following address with the subject SUBSCRIBE. This is the best way to get up-to-the-minute updates on any scheduled guests or changes to the program.

Upcoming Grindhouse Screenings

If you are a collector or filmmaker with 35mm prints of exploitation films and would enjoy seeing them screened publicly in front of an appreciative audience, please get in touch with us. We're always looking for new film sources for our screenings.

A big thank you to Bob, Sage and Dave at Grindhouse Releasing for providing many of the prints we screen and for putting together the amazing trailer reels we show every month.Without their continued support these festivals would never have lasted this long.

2000 Maniacs and Dr. Butcher, M.D. were in there somewhere. What month did we screen them?

How to convince yourself that you are actually at a 42nd Street grindhouse theater in the late 1970's to early 1980's:

1. Bring an old newspaper and place it on the seat before you sit down, to act as a barrier between your pants and any surprises left by the previous occupant.

2. Smoke some dust - or for the less daring, a spliff - before entering the theater.

3. Sneak in a bottle of cheap wine or some other intoxicant, and guzzle it all down soon after entering the theater.

4. Find the person in the theater who seems the most paranoid, insane, intoxicated, or all of the above, and sit within a three seat radius of them.

Please note that the New Beverly is a respectable establishment and none of the above is necessarily required or recommended to enjoy these films.
